The Path of Life
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Nobody is handed a map at twenty-two.
I keep asking for the plan.
He never gave David one either.
David got a psalm.
He got a path. Thou wilt shew me the path of life. Shew, ongoing, the way a road is shown one bend at a time and never all at once.
That is not much to go on.
It is more than you think, because the sentence says where the road ends. In thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Not a house, not a title, not the resolved version of the question you keep circling. A Person, and a place at his hand.
And if the road runs through a bad year?
Then it is a road through a bad year that arrives at God. Peter stood up at Pentecost and read the lines just above this one as being about the resurrection (Acts 2:25-28). The path David is walking in this psalm goes through a grave and comes out.
So the map is not coming.
