Daily Manna · Day 1 · January 1
Unflinching Light
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
A lamp carried down a long corridor does not shorten the corridor. It only shows you what is actually standing in it.
David sings this line with an army still in view. Two verses on, a host is encamped against him and war is rising. Nothing has left. The threat is lit, not lifted, and lit things stop growing. Take the fear that was waiting for you when you woke, and finish David's sentence with it in the blank. Whom shall I fear? Answer honestly. Then answer again.
Daily Manna runs on a two-year cycle. The year two reading for day 1 is Guard the Source (Proverbs 4:23).
