A Stream That Holds

Water comes down a wadi after rain, brown and loud, and by the following week the bed is stones again. Job used it for friends who did not last. My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook. What time they wax warm, they vanish.
But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. The Hebrew behind mighty stream describes the watercourse that keeps running, the one that does not fail in the dry months. It is a word about August.
So the demand is not for an outpouring. It is for a watercourse: the same thing arriving in the same place when nobody is watching and no rain has fallen for weeks.
