Continue in Prayer

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

Colossians 4:2(King James Version)

Your prayer for that person has been running six years now, and lately you have started to feel faintly foolish saying it.

Two ways of talking about that. One says asking again is a failure of nerve, and a person who believed it would have said it once and left it there. The other says continue is Paul's word and a stubborn one. It is the verb Luke puts on the room before Pentecost, These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, which was ten days of the same request with nothing happening. And watch in the same is the Gethsemane word, used on men who could not stay awake an hour.

Luke attaches one promise to the asking, and it is smaller and better than the one we want. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him. Whatever the six years produce, that is what is guaranteed, and it is given to the one doing the asking.

Daily Manna runs on a two-year cycle. The year one reading for day 285 is Graven on His Palms (Isaiah 49:15-16).
