Daily Manna, Year Two · Day 22 · January 22

When I Awake

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Psalm 17:15(King James Version)

A face, before anything else is in focus.

David has just been describing men whose portion is in this life. He is not sneering at them. Their bellies are filled with God's own hid treasure, they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. That is a real portion, honestly given, and most of us would sign for it.

As for me. Then the two halves. I will behold thy face in righteousness. I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

The satisfaction is placed after a waking. He does not say from what.

Which morning he meant is not decided in the psalm, and it will not be decided by you this afternoon either. The sentence is as short as he wrote it. It can stay that length until evening.

Daily Manna runs on a two-year cycle. The year one reading for day 22 is Daily Loaded (Psalm 68:19).
