Strength and Power
“God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.”
David sang this song after God rescued him from his enemies and from Saul, who had hunted him for years. He does not claim he made himself sure-footed. He says, "He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet." A hind is a deer, made for steep, rocky ground where one slip can cost everything. And God does all the work here: He "maketh my way perfect," He makes the feet, and He "setteth me upon my high places."
Lord, I do not feel ready for this, though everyone else seems sure I am. Make my way. Make my feet steady. Set me where You mean me to stand, and go up ahead of me. Amen.
