Watch what your hand reaches for the week the money comes up short, or the week the results are due. That is what you have actually been standing on, whatever you would say about it in company.

David is honest in a way that is easy to miss here. He does not claim he will not be moved. He claims he will not be greatly moved, and that qualifier is worth more than a bigger promise would be, because it admits the wobble is coming.

The small word carrying the psalm is only. It appears six times in twelve verses, hammered in: he only is my rock, my soul waiteth only upon God, they only consult to cast him down. He is not saying God is his main support. He is refusing the arrangement most of us actually run, which is God plus the savings, God plus the reputation, God plus the person who has always come through. One foundation, and everything else in the house is furniture, and he says a few lines later what the furniture weighs: men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie; laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

And then the detail that repays the whole psalm. Four verses later he says it again, and the qualifier has gone. I shall not be moved. Not greatly moved, at the start. Not moved, by the end. He talked himself the rest of the way there in the course of writing it.

So which is it, honestly? Name the three losses that would genuinely panic you, and then ask what you would still be standing on if one of them happened tonight. The question is not whether you can say I shall not be moved yet. It is whether you have ever once tried to finish that sentence.
