Beautiful in His Time
“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart.”
A child holds one jigsaw piece up to the window. She turns it over and over, trying to see the whole picture in that one small piece.
Look at the middle of today's verse: "he hath set the world in their heart." The Hebrew word Solomon uses there is olam. In most other places the Bible translates it "everlasting" or "for ever," as in "from everlasting to everlasting." So Solomon is not talking about the planet. He is saying that God has put a sense of forever inside every person. Deep down, we know life is bigger than the small piece we can see today.
That explains the restless ache many of us feel but cannot put into words. It does not mean you are ungrateful. It means you were made for more than an ordinary week can hold. It also explains the first half of the verse: "He hath made every thing beautiful in his time." Notice, "in his time," not ours. God's plan is real, but He keeps the calendar.
Solomon is honest about the hard part too. The verse goes on: "so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end." We are given the longing, but not the full view. God planned it that way. Some people will not accept that. They want to see the finished picture before they will trust Him, and slowly they grow bitter.
There is a better way. You do not need the whole picture to trust the One who is putting it together. Keep holding your piece. Bring it to Him in prayer, and leave the rest with Him. In His time, He will make it beautiful.
