Read the next line before deciding what that covers. The psalm ends by extending the keeping over your going out and your coming in, and over all the time there is. This is a travelling song. The road is assumed. Nothing here promises that nothing will strike you; it promises that the keeping runs deeper than your schedule and your body, down to the part of you that can actually be lost, and that it does not expire. So which of the two were you asking Him to preserve?
