This Is the Way
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
You may know what it is to sit at the kitchen table with two roads ahead and a list that does not help.
In Isaiah, the guiding voice comes from behind you: "This is the way, walk ye in it." That is a strange place for guidance until you see when it speaks: "when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left." It speaks once you have started to drift. In the very next verse the people throw away their idols of silver and gold, because hearing God and letting go of false hopes go together.
Earlier in the chapter, Judah's false hope was Egypt. Set down your own Egypt today, then take the next step and listen, because God has promised you will hear Him.
