Greater Works
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
Your Tuesday did not look like the book of Acts. You answered messages, made supper, went to bed.

I want to take this verse off the people who use it to sell you a bigger life, and hand it back to you as it stands.
Look where Jesus puts the qualification. Not talent, not gifting, not nerve. He that believeth on me. And look at the reason attached, because I go unto my Father, which is the strangest clause in the sentence and the key to all of it. The greater works are possible because he leaves. He explains why in the same conversation: It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you. While he is in one body he is in one province at a time, and a crowd has to reach him on foot. After he goes, the same Christ works through thousands of hands at once in cities he never entered. Greater is about reach, not about outdoing him. Peter invented nothing at Pentecost. He was the mouth of the Lord who had taught him.
Which quietly dismantles the scoreboard you have been keeping against yourself, and against the book of Acts, which was never a standard for a Tuesday.
Do not answer this. Do not turn it into a plan tonight. Put it down, sit still a minute or two, and let it be true without doing anything about it yet.
